St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church has a long, rich history of worship and service to Denver and the world. Now, Gilmore Construction is honored to help it advance its mission and ministry well into the 21st Century.

The church, founded by several Baptist ministers in 1900 and initially called Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, has worshiped at several locations throughout the city. Its current home is 3125 Humboldt St., where the Rev. Randolph C. West, Jr., has led the congregation since 1991.

Gilmore Construction was selected by a committee of the church’s members to build out a new campus for St. Stephen in Denver’s Stapleton neighborhood. The church’s new address will be 2050 Uinta St. Its 3.4-acre campus will feature a 22,000-square-foot church and stretch along the heavily traveled Montview Boulevard, the neighborhood’s southern boundary. Immediate neighbors will include the Denver School of Science and Technology, an apartment complex of hundreds of units and hundreds of single-family homes — all within walking distance.

This first phase of the church’s construction is scheduled for completion in October 2015.

Currently, the Gilmore team is working closely with church leaders to develop design and construction plans for a vibrant site, where St. Stephen’s congregation hopes people will find an inviting place to worship and connect with their neighbors. In addition to Sunday services, the church provides an array of Bible studies, youth-focused activities and chorus and dance ministries (see its event calendar).

We’ll provide updates as this exciting project takes shape.
